Hail to the House Plant

May 7th, 2008

I never really saw myself as a house plant kinda gal. But now that we have our own apartment and Dave has a green thumb like none other, I love them. These are pictures of some of the ones we have around our apartment right now. They make the place feel homey that’s for sure. For my birthday this year we told everyone who wanted to give a gift that a plant would be a great idea. A gift that keeps on living. The African violet on the bottom right is one Carol who I work with gave me for my birthday. I feel so proud that it is thriving and still alive. I took it to preschool this week and a few of the children clipped off leaves and put them in little pots to start new African Violets.

These are house plants that our good friends Sarah and Joel left with us when they went to teach English in China. We had just gotten married so they gave us our first house plants.
